In this Blog Post I
present Three Books which I call as Gems for the great benefit they have
bestowed on my Leadership & Management Style. Reading is according to me
one way to Collect Priceless Gems.
1.
Execution- Ram Charan
This book deals with
the importance of understanding what underpins good execution ie People ,
Strategy and Operations . Its what lies at the core of Success. If you
think about it. Its at the heart of everything you do. The Author has
worked with some of the Top Companies in the world and gives a
comprehensive take on the Topic and Business Success Key Drivers including
important qualities of Leadership.
One of the Key
Messages - Seven Essential Behaviours of Leaders
Know your people and
your business
Insist on Realism
Set Clear Goals and
Priorities
Follow Through
Reward the Doers
Expand Peoples
Capabilities
Know Yourself
2.
Lynchpin - Seth Godin
Your art is what you
do anywhere. Its what is your gift to the world even though you may not get
paid. The book shows what it means to go beyond 'being a cog' ie limited to
your duties. It also shows how our thinking sometimes limits us from unleashing
our potential. Its not until we ship our stuff do people get the benefit of It.
3.The
Power of Now - EckhartTolle
Strange as it may
sound a spiritual book has great benefits to shower on Management and
workplace. Being Present can be the difference between effective teams who are
understood and allowed to deliver and nurtured vs micromanaging. It taught me
to go beyond mind and tap into higher intelligence/ alternative thinking.
Creating Space (I will talk about this in another blog entry soon) and
Surrendering to life in a positive way (not fighting it) helped reduce stress
too. This is like no book you will ever read - New York Times Bestseller or
not.
The Reason I am
not going into elaborate synopsis is I would like you to enjoy reading them its
like a movie where you don't want to know the plot in advance.
May
you have as much of an adventure and joy reading them.
